Arthrocentesis of the TMJ is considered by many as the first-line surgical treatment for patients who do not respond to conservative treatment. Arthrocentesis using a “single-puncture, double-lumen, single-barrel needle” for patients with temporomandibular joint disorders is a simplified technical modification, that requires minimal learning curve for this procedure.
